Kudzu grows fast enough to visibly climb a tree in a matter of weeks during peak Georgia summer, and once it reaches the canopy it blocks sunlight from the leaves underneath. A tree smothered by kudzu for a full growing season can lose enough energy to struggle recovering.
The vines also add significant weight to branches, becoming a real hazard during summer storms when wind and rain load an already-stressed tree further.
ATL Tree Work clears kudzu and other aggressive vines from trees and property lines across Duluth, Lawrenceville, and Snellville before they compromise limbs high in the canopy.
