How to Spot Storm-Weakened Limbs Before They Fall on Your Jacksonville Property

Post Copy

Not every hazard limb looks dangerous from the ground. After a summer of thunderstorms, some of the riskiest damage in Jacksonville yards is sitting in the upper canopy where it's easy to miss.

Look for hanging or broken branches caught in the canopy rather than on the ground, these can drop without warning on a calm day. Cracks running along a limb's underside, bark that has split away from the trunk, and branches that have shifted position after a wind event are all worth a closer look.

Leaning trees deserve attention too, especially if the lean is new or the soil around the base looks disturbed or lifted. A tree that held up fine after one storm can be compromised after several.

A trained eye can tell the difference between a limb that needs trimming and one that signals a bigger structural issue. Eagerton Tree Service offers free assessments for Jacksonville, Orange Park, and Fleming Island properties.
