Cabling weak trees on commercial and municipal properties instead of defaulting to removal

Post Copy

A structurally weak tree on a commercial lot or municipal property doesn't always need to come out. Cabling and bracing can support a split trunk or a heavy limb well enough to keep the tree safe for years, which matters a lot when that tree is part of a property's established landscaping or shade coverage.

We work with both residential clients and larger commercial and municipal accounts across Kern County, and cabling is a tool we reach for often on mature specimens worth preserving, especially where replacing established shade trees would take decades.

The call comes down to a real structural assessment: how much decay is present, where the weak point sits, and whether the tree's overall health supports the added years cabling can provide. That's judgment built from combining eight decades of hands-on experience with current arboricultural science.

Do you have a large, established tree on your property that you'd rather preserve than remove if there's a safe way to do it?
