Homeowners hear "certified" attached to a lot of things, and it doesn't always mean much. The Certified Remodeler designation is different, and it is worth explaining what actually stands behind it.
Earning the CR credential requires documented field experience, a comprehensive exam covering business practices, project management, and building science, and ongoing continuing education to maintain it. It is not a one-time badge. Remodelers who hold it have demonstrated competency across the full scope of running a project, not just the trade skill of executing one.
For NARI Atlanta members, pursuing certification is one of the most direct ways to differentiate in a market where any contractor can claim experience but far fewer can point to a third-party standard behind it. It also gives homeowners a concrete way to evaluate who they are hiring beyond reviews and referrals alone.
For members who haven't pursued certification yet, what's held you back, time, cost, or just not knowing where to start?
