Identifying Dead and Dying Trees Around Lake Properties Before They Become a Hazard

Post Copy

On a lake or cabin property, a dead or dying tree isn't just a landscape problem. It's a risk to the dock, the boat lift, the roofline, and anyone spending time outside when the wind picks up.

Dead trees often show bark peeling away in large sections, brittle or absent leaf cover in summer, and branches that crack rather than bend. Dying trees may show partial leaf drop, discolored or wilting foliage on one side of the canopy, or soft wood at the base.

For properties in the Nisswa, Crosslake, Breezy Point, and East Gull Lake areas, summer is the right time to walk your property and identify trees that need attention before the fall storm season arrives. A quick assessment now is far less disruptive, and less costly, than an emergency call after something comes down.

New Leaf Tree Service offers free estimates and straightforward assessments. We'll tell you what we see and what we'd recommend, and we won't push work that isn't necessary. Locally owned, licensed and insured, serving the Brainerd Lakes area with 30 years of combined experience.

Image / Media Suggestion

Authentic job photo preferred: a dead or visibly declining tree near a lake cabin or dock, crew assessing or removing a hazard tree on a waterfront lot, or a before/after showing a cleared shoreline or yard. Real documentation of lake-property work is the strongest asset for this audience.
