Some of the most serious problems a tree can have are hiding below the soil line or inside the trunk, invisible to a casual glance from the yard.
A few things worth watching for on Brainerd Lakes area properties: soil that's cracked or heaved up near the base of a trunk, a trunk that looks slightly tilted compared to how it sat last year, fungal conks growing on bark or roots, and thinning canopy on a tree that otherwise looks healthy. Any of these can point to root damage, internal decay, or a structural weakness that isn't obvious until the tree fails.
Trees along shorelines and on wooded lots are especially prone to root issues from erosion, grade changes, and past construction disturbance.
If something about a tree on your property has looked slightly off this season, even if you can't quite say why, it's worth having someone experienced take a closer look.

Authentic job photo preferred: a tree showing visible root heaving, fungal growth at the base, or a crew member inspecting the base of a tree. Real, local property photos are strongly preferred over stock images.
