After a removal or a large trimming job, the area around the tree is often disturbed. Root zones get compacted from equipment, the ground gets disrupted, and in Metro Atlanta's summer heat, exposed soil loses moisture fast. One of the most practical finishing steps on a lot of our jobs is mulch application, and it does more than just look good.
A proper mulch ring around a tree's base, typically two to four inches deep and extended out to the drip line, insulates the root zone from temperature extremes, retains soil moisture during dry stretches, and protects surface roots from mower and foot traffic damage. For properties where we've done removal or significant clearing work, mulch also helps stabilize and restore the disturbed area around the job site.
We offer both colored and natural mulch options. Natural mulch breaks down over time and contributes to soil health. Colored mulch holds its appearance longer and works well for front-facing landscape areas where appearance matters. Either way, the functional benefit is the same.
This is one of those services that tends to come up at the end of a larger job, but it's worth thinking about upfront. Do you currently mulch around the trees on your property, or is it something you've been meaning to get to?
