Maryland summer storms have a way of finding the weak spots in a tree. The best time to deal with them is on a calm day, not while the wind is already howling.
A few minutes of looking can tell you a lot. Scan for dead or hanging limbs over the house and driveway, branches rubbing against the roof or power lines, and any tree that has started leaning more than it used to. Cracks where big limbs meet the trunk are worth a closer look too.
Catching these before a storm turns a planned trim into an easy job, instead of an emergency call at midnight with a limb through the fence. Proactive pruning and hazard limb removal are some of the most valuable work we do in Frederick County all summer.
When you look up at your trees today, is there a limb over your roof or driveway that gives you pause?
